Small living space is an increasingly common problem. In 2021, Romania even recorded a negative record in this sense: the smallest average surface area of homes in the last two decades: 61.52 square meters, according to a publications.
Sometimes (especially for houses in the attic, or in a condominium), the bathroom intended for the toilet is reduced to 4-3 m2 and even 2 m2. In these conditions, efficient interior design solutions, suitable for limited space, are highly sought after.
In addition to space efficiency and aesthetic considerations, managing the renovation work in a small bathroom is complicated by other aspects. For example, we must keep in mind that a small tub can quickly be invaded by objects of all kinds, whether necessary or unsightly: from body care products to cleaning solutions. Bathroom storage solutions are therefore increasing.
If you want your small bathroom to appear as spacious as possible, it is true that the layout possibilities are more limited than with a larger surface area. However, these tips are worth considering, to feel as comfortable as possible in a space you use every day.
1. Small bathroomA

One of the most used tricks in arranging a small bathroom, to give the feeling of a larger space, is the use of light tones, especially in the color of the walls, furniture and main sanitary systems.
For a small bathroom, white and bright beige, cream, possibly green, blue or even pink (provided they are very light) are suitable.
If you want an impressive bathroom, with darker or saturated colours, it is advisable to have a single wall. Or even combinations of: cherry with white or red with cream.
2. Little BaieA – large wall mirror

It is well known that placing mirrors on the wall helps to create an optical space to increase space. When choosing your bathroom mirror, opt for a larger one or a set. You can choose round ones with LEDs or even mirrors with more unique shapes, but avoid large and thick frames, because they will soften the space to increase the space.
3.Yes bathroom – models ANDand dimensions
Classic door models can take up too little space in the bathroom. It would therefore be useful to opt for a sliding or accordion-type door. However, whatever model you choose, don’t forget that an essential criterion is that of intimacy.
4. Walk-in type
In a small bathroom, a comfortable tub would not be the best choice for interior design, because it takes up too much space. Although the optimal option is the shower, and in this case there are more suitable and inappropriate models. Ideally, a walk-in shower, tall or floor-to-ceiling windows.
It will give the feeling of continuity of space, while a corner cabin with a high bathtub and an opaque screen will look massive in a small bathroom. A good option would be a mixed shower cabin, where half the wall is built and the other half is glass, just like the door.
5th minimalist style

A small bathroom limits your options regarding the interior design style you can opt for. Large or numerous decorations will seem overwhelming in a small space.
This is one of the reasons why the essentialist or minimalist style is a good option in such a situation, along with its small color palette.
However, if you want something more special, you can opt for rustic or contemporary influences, especially through the materials, colors and textures chosen.
6. Practical decorations

Unlike a spacious bathroom, where you can place all kinds of impressive decorations, such as elegant statues or large vases with humidity-loving plants (see article: Biophilic interior design), in small bathrooms you have to be more strategic.
A practical option is to focus exclusively on the items you would have added anyway: the bathroom rug, mirror, storage baskets, bathroom fixtures or, if applicable, the shower curtain.
7. Deposit with deposit
Pedestal sink models may be beautiful and elegant, but unfortunately they are a waste of space. On the contrary, the sink on the countertop (the mask sink) offers additional space, ideal for storing products and objects to hide from view, such as cleaning and hygiene.
